Growing Detroit in 2012

It’s truly been an incredible 90 days. In this short time, we’ve had the opportunity to start bringing together Michigan’s Entrepreneurial talent; hopefully laying the groundwork to break down the silos that exist here once and for all.

Offline, we were able to tour the workplaces of cool growing Michigan companies like Lovebook Online and Benzinga.

With this website, we’ve provided a resource that literally tens-of-thousands of people from all over the country have been able to tap into, to learn about the companies and people in this region.

So what’s in store for 2012?

There are so many stories yet to be told, and new stories are literally being created everyday. We look forward to breaking more news, profiling more companies, visiting more cool workspaces throughout Southeast Michigan, and supporting events that promote Entrepreneurship and small business in Michigan.

Currently, we’re looking ahead to our next Grow Detroit Meetup on January 5th, where we will be visiting the offices of BillHighway to have a few beverages and hear how this Troy-based company got it’s start from Stephen Robert, the company’s CIO.

In February, we’ll be sponsoring Startup Weekend Detroit 4 on the weekend of the 17th. This will be at the Madison building downtown, which is the home of Detroit Venture Partners.

An Entrepreneurial community makes for better startups. Plug in — get connected. If you like what we’re doing and want to help — Reach out and let us know!

We’ll leave you with these wise words for 2012…

“Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.” – Benjamin Franklin
