Lansing DemoCamp 2012 Recap
Posted on January 15, 2013 | No CommentsBack in December at the Michigan Historical Museum, Lansing area user groups held the fourth annual DemoCamp. Here’s a summary of the presentations: Jeff Smith wanted a way for people to discover and share all the unknown cool places in his hometown. The result was Pointilism which is a mobile game where you are presented with photos of places which you try and identify. If you are correct and get within a hundred feet you collect points. It’s Xconomy’s inaugural mobile Detroit event, and is being held at the Compuware building from 2:00-5:30pm. Startups can attend for $50. The speaker line-up includes Josh Linkner of Detroit Venture Partners, local startup founders Itai Ben-Gal (iRule) and Paul Glomski (Detroit Labs), as well as Paul Czarnik, CTO of Compuware and Sheryl Connelly, Manager of Ford’s Global Trends and Futures group. Steve Blank on Detroit’s Startup Scene

Blank, a serial entrepreneur, author of The Startup Owners Manual, and lecturer at Stanford, dropped in to check out the Madison, meet members of Detroit’s startup community, and share some news about his recent efforts — training University researchers to think more Entrepreneurially: In a partnership with the National Science Foundation, Blank has designed the Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program, which teaches university scientists how to think like entrepreneurs and bring their inventions to market faster.
