A Giant Leap For Calendars

Michigan-native Anthony Montalbano identified a problem back in 2005 while in his undergrad: his schedule.

With everything he had going on- school, work, and fun- having a thousand, old-fashioned google calendars just wasn’t meeting his needs.

But timing is everything. Although Anthony was a successful music blogger and entrepreneur already in 2005, the timing for his calendar idea just wasn’t right.

Fast forward to 2011 when Anthony took a new position at Dominos Pizza.

It was while working at Dominos where the slices of the pie began to come together: technology was more accessible (especially with the explosion of calendaring apps) and he met his future business partner Brian Ritter, with whom he was able to bounce ideas off of and get ideas rolling.

The calendaring idea ultimately has become Anthony’s current project called FlipFrog, a new way to manage events and calendars.

FlipFrog enables users to consolidate their calendars onto a timeline, and allows seamless sharing of events. It’s a better way to manage  google calendars, facebook events, and other calendars all in one timeline.

All On The Line

With about six months savings, and a wealth of excitement, Anthony and Brian quite Dominos in September 2011. In October FlipFrog began to be coded.

“It’s funny,” Anthony remarked, “I find ways to keep paying bills.”  The worst-case scenario? “Just find new jobs.”

FlipFrog is still not for sale yet, but anybody can preview it by visiting preview.flipfrog.com.

“Our biggest challenge is figuring out what people want, need, etc. The initial thought has changed a lot. We’ve altered what features need to be done now vs. what features can wait.”

Anthony often speaks at meetups about business and development. He can be reached via FlipFrog or follow him on twitter.
